While I was researching on where I can stay in the island, I happened by the TripAdvisor list and Anika Island Resort was rated first on the B&Bs section. The cheapest room was the Courtyard Room which was, unfortunately, available, hence, I booked the second least expensive room (which is still pricey at Php 2000/night without breakfast but with port transfers, in my opinion).
The whole time I was in Bantayan Island, I called my Sunset Villa Room in Anika Island Resort home. Their rooms are partially made of container vans which were ingenious!
Room keys are placed in shell necklaces (albeit unfashionable), which is very convenient when you’re out on the beach or when you’re going swimming. There were two beds in my room. If I wanted just one bed, I would need to upgrade to another room. If I was traveling with C and had someone to share expenses with, I would have but it was just me so it’s fine. 🙂
There’s a place to hang your clothes where I mainly hang my scarf and maxi skirt after spending the entire day on the beach.
The toilet is okay. Two towels were provided in the room, along with shampoo sachets (Rejoice), a small soap and a dental kit (toothpaste and toothbrush). During my entire stay, I had no problems using the toilet nor the shower.
Here’s the view outside my room. That’s the reception area which is also the restaurant. They had pretty reliable power generators since a power outage occurred while I was there and the electricity was only gone for a few minutes.
The restaurant is very spacious and airy. The prices for the food is reasonable, although I suggest going out to eat. The food outside is way more affordable, given that it’s a remote area in the province. I sat at the same spot at the restaurant every single time I ate there since it was nearest to the beach, and farther from the other diners.
I believe this may be a conference room? A group of people has been using this the entire time while I was there.
A mini playground for the young ones.
I have to pass this path every time I want to go to the beach since the Sunset Villa rooms are the farthest from the beach.
I’m guessing these beachfront rooms are the most expensive as it can also fit a lot of people (a family was checked in there). Here was where I can be found 90% of the time I was there! I loved sitting here, covered only in my bikini and reading. I can do it every day! The beach is well maintained and there was a security guard 24/7.
Overall, my stay at the resort has been pleasurable (plus they acted fast when I got stung by a jellyfish!). Admittedly, I didn’t get to experience everything there is to do on the island (I decided to relax, and it was rainy when I was there) so trust that I’ll be back soon!
